Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on Eid al-Adha:

“As the sun rises tomorrow, Muslims will gather together for prayer, reflecting on prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his own son and God rewarding him for his obedience.

“Eid al-Adha is a time for celebration with friends and family and serves as a reminder of faith, sacrifice and the importance of community. Muslims across Canada will provide for those in need, whether it’s donating food to the local food bank or coming together to organize charitable initiatives.

“Many from across Canada have also made the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, joining with Muslims from around the world to perform one of the five sacred pillars of the Islamic faith. As we mark the end of the Hajj, I offer my congratulations to all the Canadians who made the journey this year.

“Today, I would like to wish you all a peaceful and joyous Eid al-Adha.

“Eid Mubarak!”
