Should PM Carney respond to Trump’s tariffs with concrete actions? Strategists panel

Prime Minister Mark Carney has been criticized for not immediately retaliating following the doubling of U.S. tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum. He referenced “intensive negotiations with the Americans” when asked about how Canada would repsond. The U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra confirmed Thursday to The Globe and Mail there are currently direct talks happening between Carney and Trump. Is that enough of a response from Prime Minister Carney, or does he need to confront Trump with concrete actions? CPAC’s Michael Serapio discusses it with strategists Susan Smith (Liberal), Cole Hogan (Conservative) and George Soule (NDP).
