MPs comment on the response to U.S. hike on steel and aluminum tariffs – June 5, 2025

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons. Ministers Mélanie Joly (industry) and François-Philippe Champagne (finance) as well as Liberal MP Terry Sheehan face questions on the federal response to the Trump administration’s move to increase global tariffs on steel and aluminum from 25 to 50 per cent.

Liberal MP Judy Sgro offers words of tribute to her former colleague Marc Garneau, former federal minister and MP who died June 4, 2025, at the age of 76.

Liberal MP Jaime Battiste responds to questions on comments made by Justice Minister Sean Fraser regarding the federal government’s obligation to consult with Indigenous leaders when it comes to the development of major national projects.
