Ministers speak briefly with reporters on Parliament Hill before the federal cabinet holds its weekly meeting. Ministers Sean Fraser (justice), Chrystia Freeland (transport, internal trade) and Tim Hodgson (energy and natural resources) comment on yesterday’s first ministers’ meeting in Saskatoon, where a focus was placed on the development and advancement of major economic projects of “national interest.” Fraser faces questions on the Assembly of First Nations’ warning to Prime Minister Mark Carney that Indigenous consent is necessary for fast-tracking major infrastructure projects.

François-Philippe Champagne (finance) responds to questions on the federal response to the Trump administration’s plan to increase tariffs on steel and aluminum from 25 to 50 per cent.

Mark Gerretson (chief government whip) and Steven MacKinnon (government House leader) comment on the Conservative amendment to the throne speech reply that narrowly passed yesterday in the House of Commons.
