Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on Canadian Armed Forces Day:

“In these dangerous times, our nation is counting on the brave men and women of our Canadian Armed Forces. From coast to coast to coast, and on deployments far from home, they work tirelessly to keep our country strong and free.

“When fighting alongside our allies, Canadian troops have often found themselves at the ‘tip of the spear’. Throughout their proud history, our sailors, soldiers and aviators have earned a reputation for courage, resourcefulness and tenacity.

“Whether in the World Wars, Korea, Afghanistan or countless operations besides, their conduct has been a credit to us all – winning the admiration of friends and foes alike.

“Today and every day, Common Sense Conservatives are proud to celebrate our Canadian Armed Forces. We revere their time-honoured traditions and warrior ethos. And we believe that ‘support our troops’ means giving them the equipment and resources they need to be effective in any encounter.

“On behalf of all my colleagues, I want to wish our amazing men and women in uniform, their families and our veterans a very happy Canadian Armed Forces Day!”
