Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on National Police Week:

“This week, Canadians have a chance to thank the men and women who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. From the street corners of small towns to the hearts of bustling cities, our nation can count on the courage and professionalism of our police officers.

“In the past decade, Canada has witnessed crime, chaos, and disorder descend over neighbourhoods that were once considered safe. While this has affected nearly all Canadians, few have been as impacted as our police forces, who – day after day – face these growing threats to public safety.

“We especially remember those officers who have been killed in the line of duty – leaving behind the comrades, families and communities that they once served.

“In these dangerous times, Common Sense Conservatives recognize that law enforcement is not the problem. Rather, they are a core part of the solution. A Conservative government will support our police forces and end the reckless policies that endanger all Canadians.

“On behalf of all my colleagues, I want to say ‘thank you’ to all our incredible police officers and their families and to wish everyone celebrating a very happy National Police Week!”
