Danielle Smith issues challenge to Mark Carney: strategists panel – May 1, 2025

On Thursday, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announced that her government will be taking Ottawa to court, challenging its clean energy regulations act to get it struck down on the grounds of Constitutional overreach. This also adds to a bill that was introduced earlier this week in, that would make it easier for Albertans to trigger a referendum. The Alberta NDP say this flirts with provincial separatists.

How should Prime Minister Carney respond to this? CPAC’s Michael Serapio discusses it with strategists Stevie O’Brien (Liberal), Cole Hogan (Conservative) and George Soule (NDP).
