B.C. Premier David Eby comments on Vancouver festival attack, federal election – April 29, 2025

British Columbia Premier David Eby holds a news conference in Victoria, where he speaks about the recent attack at a Filipino street festival in Vancouver that killed 11 people. The premier pledges to call a public inquiry if the criminal trial investigating the incident fails to provide answers.

Eby also comments on yesterday’s federal election results, which projects the re-election of a Liberal government led by Mark Carney. It is still uncertain as to whether Carney has received a minority or a majority mandate, as a number of federal riding races remain too close to call.
