Carney accused of misrepresenting March phone call with Trump: strategists panel – April 24, 2025

A report by Radio-Canada states that U.S. President Donald Trump did talk about his desire to make Canada the 51st U.S. state with Mark Carney during their call on March 28th, despite Carney originally saying that Canadian sovereignty was respected by the President on the call. This led the other federal leaders to accuse their Liberal rival of not being honest. Could this ultimately hurt his image with voters, as election Day approaches? CPAC’s Andrew Thomson discusses it with strategists Susan Smith (Liberal), Jordan Paquet (Conservative) and George Soule (NDP).
