Pierre Poilievre axes his first campaign promise

Ottawa, ON – This election comes at a time of crisis. President Trump is threatening our economy, our sovereignty, and our Canadian way of life. Mark Carney has a plan to stand up to President Trump and his unjust tariffs, and build the strongest economy in the G7.

Today, with less than a week left in the most consequential election of our lifetimes, Pierre Poilievre finally released his platform. This platform walks back the very first promise he made in this election: a middle-class tax cut.

“Pierre Poilievre has a ‘Bring it Home’ tax cut that takes four years to come home,” said Mark Carney, Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. “My government’s middle class tax cut is four times larger this year. Our plan delivers support to Canadians today, when it is needed most.”

On March 24th, Pierre Poilievre promised a so-called “Bring it Home” tax cut. Today, he walked it back, announcing that Canadians would have to wait four years before fully receiving that tax cut. Canadians need support now, as President Trump threatens their livelihoods – not four years from now, as President Trump’s term comes to an end. Our Liberal plan will put more money in Canadians’ pockets sooner.

Pierre Poilievre doesn’t have a plan. He won’t stand up to President Trump. Canadians need real leadership in this time of crisis. Mark Carney’s plan will spend less so Canadians can invest more – so we can build more affordable homes, create new jobs, and build the strongest economy in the G7.
