Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on Passover:

“Over the coming days, Jewish families will come together to mark the start of Passover and retell the story of their people’s miraculous Exodus from hundreds of years of enslavement in Egypt and their journey to the Promised Land.

“At its core, the Passover story is one of unwavering hope. It has inspired generations of Jews and non-Jews alike with the message that oppression can always be overcome, encouraging those who are subjugated to never relent in their fight for freedom.

“As Jews in Israel and around the world gather around the Seder table, we are reminded that, for many, the quest for freedom is ongoing. As Israel continues its fight to free the remaining hostages from Hamas’ captivity, we join Jews everywhere in echoing their plea for freedom: “Let my people go!”

“Freedom for Israelis to live in peace and security in their ancestral homeland. And freedom for Jewish people everywhere to live in a world free of antisemitism, where they can pray, worship and serve G-d and their community in peace and safety.”

“Chag Pesach Sameach!”
