PM Mark Carney announces 25% counter-tariffs on U.S.-made automobiles – April 3, 2025

Prime Minister Mark Carney speaks with reporters in Ottawa after chairing a virtual meeting with Canada’s premiers.

Yesterday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced tariffs on a host of countries that did not include Canada, although previously imposed tariffs on some Canadian goods remain in place. Mark Carney has paused his campaign as Liberal leader to respond to the tariffs.
