Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Eid-al-Fitr

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on Eid-al-Fitr:

“Today, as the crescent moon rises in the sky, Muslim families across Canada celebrate Eid-al-Fitr to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

“Over the last 30 days, 1.7 million Muslims across Canada have anchored themselves in fasting, prayer and charity as they live out Islam’s guiding values of compassion and generosity through acts of service to the community. 

“As Muslims join together today for Eid prayers and festive meals with family and friends, we are reminded of the spirit of gratitude, hope and unity that are the cornerstones of such festivities.

“I wish to thank all our Muslim family and friends for their goodwill and generous spirit not just over the past month but throughout the whole year, which has undoubtedly enriched our common home. May all those celebrating today have a blessed Eid.

“Eid Mubarak!”
