Luca D’Amore of the Kamloops Storm earned this week’s Young Guns selection thanks to scoring five goals, including a winner, in four games against the 100 Mile House Wranglers. He played an average of 20:15 a game, while having a plus three rating.

D’Amore was able to generate offence from the play of his teammates.

“When you are forechecking hard, pinning them in their zone several shifts in a row, they get tired and you find your opportunities and bury them,” he said. “I was feeling pretty good. A part of what goes into that is you start scoring a couple goals, you have to stay level-headed. You have to keep playing the same way and good things will keep happening.”

After posting 13 goals and 26 points in 43 regular season games, the Kamloops native led the Storm with 10 goals in 10 KIJHL Teck Cup playoff games and was second in points with 13. He also had three game winners in the playoffs.
