Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Nowruz:

“Today, communities across Canada will gather to mark the start of a new year. For countless generations, Nowruz has been a chance to look ahead with hope for the future – and to leave the darkness of the past behind.

“With a history stretching back millennia, today Nowruz is celebrated by millions of people across linguistic, geographic and religious lines. Throughout this long history, a myriad of communities have made this ancient celebration truly their own.

“As families come together to welcome the spring, we reflect on the themes of return and renewal. In particular, we look with hope to the future of our common Canadian home: one where people of all faiths and backgrounds can live in peace and security.

“On behalf of Canada’s Common Sense Conservatives, I would like to wish everyone celebrating a year of peace, joy, health and prosperity.”
