
Liberals on Carney’s leadership win, election timing, tariff response – March 10, 2025
Ministers and Liberal MPs speak with reporters as the federal caucus and cabinet meets on Parliament Hill. The meeting comes the day after Mark Carney was declared as the replacement for Justin Trudeau as Liberal party leader.
Ministers and MPs face questions on the way forward for the party caucus and on Carney’s decision to appoint MP and former minister Marco Mendicino to serve as his chief of staff. They are also asked about the timing of the next federal election and on Canada’s ongoing response to U.S. tariffs.
