Faut-il dépenser plus pour assurer la souveraineté économique du Canada ? — 7 mars 2025

Après avoir annoncé une pause dans l’imposition de tarifs douaniers au Canada, le président américain Donald Trump a déclaré vendredi qu’il pourrait frapper l’industrie laitière de tarifs allant jusqu’à 250 %. Ces nouveaux droits pourraient entrer en vigueur en principe la semaine prochaine.

Pendant ce temps, le ministre de l’Emploi, du Développement de la main-d’œuvre et du Travail, Steven MacKinnon, présentait diverses mesures visant à aider les entreprises et les travailleurs et qui pourraient s’élever jusqu’à 6 milliards de dollars. Mais est-ce le bon moyen pour s’assurer une indépendance économique du pays face aux États-Unis ? Notre animatrice Catherine Lafrance discute de la question avec Patrick Leblond, professeur agrégé à l’École supérieure des affaires publiques et internationales à l’Université d’Ottawa.
