Jagmeet Singh reacts to pause on some of Donald Trump’s tariffs « Canada’s NDP

Canada’s NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh, released the following statement on the 30-day pause on American tariffs on Canadian goods covered by the Canada United States Mexico Agreement (CUSMA):

“Stand strong, Canada. Standing up to bullies works, and we can win this fight. We can’t back down now.
Donald Trump wants to take over our country. He wants to destroy our economy and take our jobs. We won’t let him – not now, not ever.

Let’s fight back. Let’s resist. Let’s build, build, build. We can forge, buy and construct more of what we need right here, protecting and creating good, unionized jobs. Let’s fix EI so workers worry less about what will happen if Trump tries to put them out of a job.
Appeasement won’t work. Cozying up to Donald Trump and Elon Musk won’t work.

Only resistance will work. Let’s fight.”
