PM Trudeau speaks with reporters as Canada responds to U.S. tariffs – March 4, 2025

In Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discusses his government’s response to U.S. President Donald Trump placing 25 per cent tariffs on most Canadian goods. In a statement yesterday, the prime minister confirmed Canada would respond with tariffs of its own.

Also participating in the news conference are ministers Dominic LeBlanc (finance and intergovernmental affairs), Mélanie Joly (foreign affairs) and David McGuinty (public safety).
