KIJHL Power Rankings – Week 23
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League completed its 23rd and final week of regular season action for the 2024-25 season. The KIJHL Power Rankings highlight the top-five teams based on winning percentage, with various tie-breakers to help decide positioning.
The Kimberley Dynamiters climbed three spots to take No. 1 after winning both their games last week. They started their weekend by defeating the Creston Valley Thunder Cats 5-4 in overtime. Tristan Weill led with a pair of goals (22), including the overtime winner. The Dynamiters then doubled up the Golden Rockets 4-2 to close out the regular season. Jake Murdoch’s first KIJHL goal was the winner. The Dynamiters were 6-1 in February.
The Grand Forks Border Bruins dropped to No.2. They split their final two games of the regular season, earning a 9-4 win over the Castlegar Rebels, then losing 3-2 in overtime to the Beaver Valley Nitehawks. The point still helped the Border Bruins win their first President’s Cup trophy. Against the Rebels, Russell Kosec scored twice (7), including the winner. The Border Bruins won four of their six February games, with both losses in overtime.
The Princeton Posse dropped to No.3. They won their lone game of the week, 2-1 in a shootout over the Merritt Centennials. Carson Hebert scored the winner. Blake Sittler made 24 saves including another five in the shootout. The Posse won five of their six February games.
The Beaver Valley Nitehawks dropped a spot to No. 4. They won both their games during the weekend, beginning with a 3-2 overtime win over the Border Bruins. Brady Magarrell led the Nitehawks with two goals (22), including the overtime winner. The Nitehawks then defeated the Castlegar Rebels 5-3. Ty Noseworthy scored the winner on his second goal (10). The Nitehawks won five of their six February games.
The Kamloops Storm come in at No. 5. They closed out their season with a pair of wins over the Quesnel River Rush, 4-0 and the Osoyoos Coyotes, 4-1. Against the River Rush, Dawson Holitzki was excellent, earning a 36-save shutout as Brandon Burns scored the winner. Against the Coyotes, Hayden Selin (15) scored the winner on the power-play. The Storm closed out the regular season on a five-game winning streak, and were 6-1 in February.
