Jagmeet Singh denounces the CAQ’s frontal attack on workers’ rights « Canada’s NDP

February 20, 2025 at 2:30 am  Federal, Politics

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh issued the following statement:

“At a time when workers are more worried than ever about U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff threats, I was exceedingly disappointed to see the Quebec government attack workers’ right to strike.

Our health care system is collapsing, there are cockroaches in our schools, people are having trouble putting food on the table and finding a home they can afford, it seems to me that’s what we should be focusing on.

Bill 89 is a frontal attack on workers, and I invite Quebecers to join me and the labour movement in denouncing it.

The right to strike is essential to obtain better working conditions and fair wages.

Our workers need our support right now, not more attacks from their government.

New Democrats always stand in solidarity with workers, whether in Quebec or across the country.”
