Liberal leadership candidate Mark Carney proposes plan to reduce public spending – February 19, 2025

In Scarborough, Liberal leadership candidate Mark Carney announces a proposed plan to reduce federal public spending by conducting program reviews, capping the public service and employing AI to make government more efficient.

Carney faces questions from reporters on how a government led by him would approach relations with China. He also comments on the ongoing annexation threats against Canada by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Liberals will elect their new leader on March 9.
