Canadians Face Food Crisis After Nine Years Of Carney-Trudeau Taxes

Ottawa, ON – Canadians are facing a food crisis after the Carney-Trudeau carbon taxes and inflationary spending made everything more expensive. Families are having to spend $800 more on food than they did last year and food banks across Canada had to manage a record 2 million visits in one month alone last year.

Carney has been Trudeau’s chief economic advisor for the past five years and the results have been devastating. In Mississauga, Ontario, the local food bank system reported last week that they had been forced to lay-off 16 percent of their staff just to keep up with the growing number of Canadians who rely on their services. One in 13 residents in Mississauga are already forced to use food banks, forcing the forcing the city to declare food insecurity an emergency.

Earlier this month, Hawkesbury – a town of 10,000 people – also declared a food crisis after the local food bank handled an astonishing 1,300 visitors in January. This follows similar declarations in Toronto and Kingston.

This economic misery is not limited to Ontario either. In Montreal, La Presse reported that 44 percent of students attending CEGEP colleges were experiencing some form of food insecurity. Worse still, 13 percent of these students had to skip meals or reduce the size of their plates due to a lack of money.

In St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, 2,300 people are forced to rely on one food bank while the neighbouring Salvation Army food bank reported always being at maximum capacity. A spokesperson for the Salvation Army said that 50 percent of their clients are new to having to rely on food banks.

Canadians deserve relief, but Carbon Tax Carney has been clear he will continue with the disastrous Liberal taxes and inflationary spending he supported for the past five years. Carney has already admitted that his new bigger carbon tax will drive up costs for Canadians while his plans for massive, out-of-controlled spending will keep inflation higher for longer.

Carbon Tax Carney is just like Justin and that’s the last things Canadians need. Only Common Sense Conservatives will axe the tax and fix the budget to bring home lower prices for Canadians.
