Public Safety Minister David McGuinty speaks to reporters on Parliament to highlight the federal government’s measures to address U.S. President Donald’s border security concerns. This comes following Trump’s nominee for commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick, spoke about how immediate action to stem the flow of fentanyl into the United States could forestall the administration’s looming 25 per cent import tariffs. The minister discusses his plans to head to Washington later in the week to meet with U.S. ahead of the threatened tariffs, which could take effect as soon as February 1.
