Trudeau’s Radical Carbon Tax-Loving Environment Minister Endorses Carbon Tax Carney

Ottawa, ON – In case you needed more proof that Carbon Tax Carney is just like Justin, today Trudeau’s radical Environment Minister and most fanatical carbon tax zealot endorsed him.

Steven Guilbeault is not just another incompetent Liberal Minister who selfishly went along with Justin Trudeau’s destructive carbon tax agenda. He is Justin Trudeau’s leading carbon tax advocate who led the charge to quadruple the carbon tax to 61 cents per litre by 2030. In fact, Guilbeault even threatened to quit Trudeau’s cabinet if the Liberals gave any more carbon tax carve-outs.

As Environment Minister, Guilbeault was directly responsible for hiking the carbon tax on the backs of working Canadians. He also desperately tried to cover up a report from the Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) which revealed that the carbon tax was costing Canadians $25 billion a year in economic damage. When the PBO tried to report it, Guilbeault placed him under a gag order.

And just a few months ago, Guilbeault promised “of course we’re going to continue with the carbon tax,” even after President Trump threatened 25 percent tariffs that would push our weak and failing economy over the edge after nine years of this NDP-Liberal government. Guilbeault also said that he would stop building roads, saying existing road infrastructure “is perfectly adequate to respond to the needs we have” and ban gas-powered cars in a decade. He was even arrested in 2001 for illegally scaling the CN Tower.

The fact that Guilbeault endorsed Carney is a clear signal that Canadians will get stuck with the devastating carbon tax if Carney ever becomes Prime Minister. In the same press conference where he endorsed Carney, Guilbeault said “I continue to believe that the consumer price on pollution is one of the best tools we have.”

Guilbeault went on to say, “I’ve known Mark for many years. We’ve worked together on issues of green energy transition, fighting climate change, and the role of the financial sector in fighting climate change.”

This is no surprise as Carney has been one of the world’s most consistent carbon tax advocates, even going as far as explicitly endorsing it in his book, saying: ‘Effective public policies include carbon prices such as Canada’s legislated path to $170/tonne in 2030…’ and further suggesting that this punishing tax was a model for the world.

Canadians don’t need another Justin Trudeau. They need a common sense Conservative government that will axe the tax and put Canada first.
