Green Party Leader Elizabeth May Announces Changes to Shadow Cabinet
OTTAWA — Green Party Leader Elizabeth May today announced changes to the Shadow Cabinet, appointing two remarkable individuals, Dr. Jennifer Purdy and Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik, to key critic roles in Defence and Health, respectively.
Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik: New Health Critic
The Green candidate for Guelph Ontario, Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik has been named Health critic. “I am so excited to have Dr. Zaijdlik join MP Mike Morrice and me and a growing caucus of Greens in Parliament!” said Elizabeth May.
Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik, a family physician, is known for her groundbreaking work in global health. As the founder of Bracelet of Hope, Dr. Zajdlik has led efforts to support communities in Lesotho affected by HIV/AIDS. Her initiative provides income for local artisans, funds health care services and fosters homes for orphans.
Dr. Zajdlik’s contributions have been recognized with the Meritorious Service Medal (Civil Division), awarded in 2016 for her dedication to addressing global health crises. As the Green Party’s Health Critic, she will bring her wealth of experience to advocate for transformative health policies in Canada. As the Green Party’s candidate for Guelph and the next Member of Parliament for the riding, Dr. Zajdlik is committed to championing innovative and compassionate policies. Jennifer Purdy: New Defence Critic
La candidate verte pour Guelph (Ontario), la Dre Anne-Marie Zajdlik, a été nommée porte-parole en matière de santé. « Je suis très impatiente que la Dre Zaijdlik se joigne au député Mike Morrice et à moi-même, ainsi qu’au caucus croissant du Parti vert au Parlement », a déclaré Elizabeth May.
Dr. Jennifer Purdy (she/her) is a family medicine physician specializing in evidence-based Lifestyle Medicine in Ottawa. A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada with a Bachelor of Arts in 1998, Dr. Purdy went on to earn her Medical Degree from the University of Ottawa in 2008 and completed her residency in Family Medicine in 2010.
With over 23 years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces, Dr. Purdy brings a wealth of experience and insight to her new role as Defence Critic, offering a unique perspective on the intersection of health and military policy.
