As we kick off 2025 and hit the halfway mark of the National Hockey League season, let’s check
in on how some Kamloops Blazers alumni have been performing during the first half of the
2024-25 campaign.
Logan Stankoven has officially begun his rookie season with the Dallas Stars, notching 4 goals
and 14 assists for 18 points in 35 games. Centering the third line alongside former WHLer Sam
Steel and Mavrik Bourque, Stankoven is making his mark and currently ranks fifth in the NHL
rookie scoring race.
Connor Zary has had an impressive start with the Calgary Flames, tallying 10 goals and 12
assists for 22 points in 38 games. Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff named Zary one of 10
potential breakout candidates, praising his adaptability on the wing despite being a natural
center. “There weren’t many lulls in his season last year. He had six multi-point games, which
means he collected at least one point in nearly half (28) of his 63 games. Zary could well double
that this year playing at the top of Ryan Huska’s lineup card.” Seravalli noted, referencing Zary’s
consistent play.
Olen Zellweger has suited up for 32 games with the Anaheim Ducks, contributing 4 goals and 8
assists for 12 points. The dynamic defenseman, known for his “rover” style, is second among
Ducks blueliners in points.
Fraser Minten has faced a challenging start, appearing in only 11 games for the Toronto Maple
Leafs, where he’s posted 2 goals and 2 assists. In the AHL, Minten has been productive for the
Toronto Marlies, recording 4 goals and 6 points in 11 games.
Veteran defenseman Joel Edmundson has registered 10 points in 35 games with the Los
Angeles Kings, earning significant minutes on the team’s second pairing alongside Brandt
Clarke.
In goal, Connor Ingram is off to a solid start with the Utah Hockey Club, boasting a 6-4-3 record
and an .871 save percentage. Last season, Ingram played in 50 games with the Arizona
Coyotes.
In the AHL, several Blazers alumni are making their mark:
● Garrett Pilon has 11 points in 27 games with the Belleville Senators.
● Caedan Bankier has tallied 13 points in 30 games.
● Luke Toporowski has posted 12 points in 17 games.
● Kyle Masters has chipped in 2 points in 9 games, all with the Iowa Wild.
● Gage Quinney has delivered 12 points in 18 games with the Henderson Silver Knights.
Goaltender Dylan Garand has been a standout with the Hartford Wolf Pack, earning a 2.25
goals-against average and a .926 save percentage across 15 games. Although called up to the
New York Rangers, he hasn’t seen NHL action yet. Fellow netminder Dylan Ferguson has
played seven games for the Iowa Wild and represented Team Canada at the Spengler Cup.
