Inaugural Professorial Lecture: The Importance of B.C. Grasslands
Grasslands are the underdog of B.C.’s biomes.
They take up less than one per cent of the province’s land base, yet they are home to nearly one-third of its at-risk species.
Despite their importance, these ecosystems are in danger of disappearing, says TRU natural resource science Professor Dr. Wendy Gardner, and we could do a better job at raising awareness about them.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Gardner, who was promoted to professor in 2024, will deliver her Inaugural Professorial Lecture about B.C.’s grasslands. The lecture, The Importance of B.C. Grasslands: Building Our Understanding, will cover these special ecosystems and what makes them so vital today.
In-person seating is limited at the lecture which will be held in the Scratch Café in the Culinary Arts Training Centre.
