MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons. Minister Dan Vandal (northern affairs) as well as NDP MPs Don Davies and Alexandre Boulerice face questions on Canada-U.S. relations following incoming President Donald Trump’s recent social media post where he referred to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as the “Governor” of the “Great State of Canada.”

Liberal MPs Stéphane Lauzon, Fayçal El-Khoury and Brendan Hanley as well as Bloc Québécois MP Gabriel Ste-Marie comment on the way forward for the minority Liberal government’s proposed $250 rebate cheques, a policy which has failed to garner the support of any of the opposition parties.

NDP MP Lori Idlout discusses the Conservative party’s criticisms of the government’s new Arctic foreign policy, which includes the appointment of an Arctic ambassador.

Green Party Leader Elizabeth May speaks about Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s refusal to obtain necessary security clearance to be briefed on classified national security information related to foreign interference in Canada’s domestic political affairs.

Minister Jean-Yves Duclos (public services) responds to questions on the possibility of federal support for charities impacted by the ongoing Canada Post strike.
