Ministers and MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal party holds its weekly caucus meeting. Ministers Karina Gould (government House leader), Mark Holland (health), François-Philippe Champagne (innovation), Anita Anand (Treasury Board president, transport), Steven MacKinnon (labour), Soraya Martinez Ferrada (tourism) and Steven Guilbeault (environment) face questions on Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s calls for the government to introduce a fall economic statement on Monday in the House of Commons.

Minister Arif Virani (justice) announces the government’s decision to split Bill C-63, the Online Harms act, into two separate pieces of legislation. The first bill will focus on digital safety and internet child pornography and the second will hone in on amendments to the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Criminal Code.

Minister Ya’ara Saks, (mental health and addictions), Champagne as well as MPs Vance Badawey and Nathaniel Erskine-Smith comment on the way forward for Canada-U.S. relations following Donald Trump’s recent threat to impose a 25 per cent tariff on all imports from Canada and Mexico.

MacKinnon also discusses the ongoing Canada Post strike, which is entering its third week.

Minister Harjit Sajjan (emergency preparedness) faces questions on his decision to accept taxpayer-funded Taylor Swift tickets for himself and his daughter.

Minister Jean-Yves Duclos (public services), Guilbeault, Gould, Duclos, Anand as well as MP David McGuinty comment on issues ranging from the state of public accounts, the ongoing privilege debate in the House and Ontario Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie’s criticisms of the federal carbon pricing system
