Premier Smith discusses Alberta’s response to federal Impact Assessment Act – November 28, 2024

November 28, 2024 at 11:07 am  Federal, Politics, Video

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith provides an update on her government’s response to the federal government’s environmental assessment law. She is joined at the news conference in Edmonton by provincial ministers Mickey Amery (justice), Brian Jean (energy and minerals) and Nathan Neudorf (affordability and utilities).

The Trudeau government made changes to the Impact Assessment Act this summer after a Supreme Court ruling found much of it unconstitutional. Premier Smith threatened further legal challenges if Ottawa did not commit to further amendments.
