Understanding Addiction and Substance Use Services

November 21, 2024 at 5:39 pm  Education, Kamloops, News

In recognition of National Addictions Awareness Week, all staff, faculty and students are invited to attend an informative session about substance use disorders, the reasons individuals may use substances and what addiction means. We’ll discuss the risk factors contributing to addiction, common barriers to accessing treatment and explore what recovery can look like.

In this session, you’ll:

  • build awareness and understanding of substance use challenges and navigating recovery pathways
  • learn how to define addiction, who it affects and why people might have an addiction
  • learn what the Interior Health Integrated Treatment Team (ITT) is and how it can support you or someone who’d like to change their relationship with substances
  • learn about Interior Health mental health and substance use services and how to decide what service may be the best fit for you or a loved one
