MPs comment on Boissonnault controversy, Canada’s emissions targets – November 20, 2024

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill ahead of the daily question period in the House of Commons. Minister Steven MacKinnon (labour), Liberal MP Jaime Battiste as well NDP MPs Don Davies and Alexandre Boulerice comment on Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault decision to resign from cabinet over shifting claims regarding his family’s Indigenous ancestry and ethical questions related to his former business.
Adam van Koeverden (parliamentary secretary to the environment minister) comments on one of Environment Commissioner Jerry Demarco’s recent reports, which said Canada is not on track to meet its 2030 emission reduction targets under the Paris climate agreement.

François-Philippe Champagne (innovation) responds to questions on Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s assertions that there is a consensus among premiers for a bilateral trade deal with the United States that excludes Mexico.
