VICTORIA – All 47 BC NDP Government Caucus MLAs were sworn-in at the Legislature today, and are ready to get to work on the issues that matter to British Columbians like affordable housing, healthcare, the cost of living and community safety.

“Our new government caucus represents one of the most diverse and qualified groups of MLAs that this legislature has ever seen,” said BC NDP Premier David Eby. “We have entrepreneurs, nurses, mayors, non-profit leaders, labour leaders and more.”

“Our MLAs bring a combination of experienced perspectives and fresh ideas. And we’re ready to deliver for British Columbians.”

The BC NDP caucus for the 43rd Parliament is one of the most diverse the BC Legislature will have ever seen.

  • 65% of the BC NDP caucus – 31 out of 47 – are women – the most ever elected in a caucus in BC.
  • Three members of the BC NDP caucus are Indigenous – the most ever in a caucus in BC.
  • 19 members (40%) of the new BC NDP caucus identify as People of Colour – also the most ever in a caucus in BC.
  • Three members of the caucus identify as People Living with Disabilities.
  • Three members of the caucus identify as members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
  • Ten MLAs (20%) in the caucus are under the age of 40.
  • The caucus also includes the first Muslim woman ever elected to the BC Legislature, Amna Shah (Surrey City Centre), the first Korean Canadian ever elected to Government Caucus, Paul Choi (Burnaby South-Metrotown), and the first Black British Columbian elected to Government Caucus in more than thirty years, George Anderson (Nanaimo-Lantzville).
