NDP Climate Change and Environment critic Laurel Collins reacted to today’s Environment Commissioner Report:

“Another report, another massive Liberal failure. Canadians are terrified about the impacts of the climate crisis. This year is set to be the warmest on record.

The Liberals continuously get a failing grade on every single climate report—they’re letting Canadians down. Under Justin Trudeau and Minister Guilbeault’s leadership, Canada has the worst climate record of all G7 countries – this report even has a whole chart dedicated to how badly Canada is falling behind.

It’s really no shock – the Liberal climate blueprint is delay and delay until they get called out for it, then offer up a half-baked plan that caters to rich oil and gas CEOs. Meanwhile, Conservatives are still stuck debating if the climate crisis is real.

Canadians expect and deserve better.

New Democrats demand that the government act more urgently and stop putting oil and gas CEOs ahead of Canadians.”
