MPs on housing infrastructure program, emissions reduction shortfall – November 7, 2024

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons. Minister Sean Fraser (housing) discusses the government’s new Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund, a $1 billion program to help municipalities build critical infrastructure. He also takes questions on the federal housing accelerator fund and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s pledge to cut the program if his party forms government.

Minister Steven Guilbeault (environment) comments on the latest environment commissioner report that finds that Canada is not on track to meet its Paris climate agreement goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by to 40 to 45 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030.

Conservative MP Michael Barrett responds to questions on the ethical allegations surrounding a company that formerly owned by Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault.

Liberal MP Angelo Iacono and Bloc Québécois MP Mario Beaulieu comment on Conservative MP Larry Brock ‘s apology to Public Services Minister Jean-Yves Duclos over an October occurrence in the House of Commons over the language rights of MPs.
