Government Documents Confirm Trudeau Bought $9 Million New York City Condo For Tom Clark

Ottawa, ON – Today, Politico reported that the NDP-Liberal Government only decided to purchase a $9 million luxury condo on Billionaires’ Row in New York City after Trudeau’s close friend and media buddy, Tom Clark, complained that his old apartment was uninhabitable. The original freedom of information request can be found here.

This proves that Tom Clark lied in his testimony at a House of Commons’ Committee, after previously telling Canadians that he was not involved in the decision to purchase the new luxury condo. In fact, after being appointed Consul General, Clark complained that his old apartment was “not suitable” for hosting, and “not suitable” as a residence and “requires immediate replacement.”

As a direct result of this, the project to refurbish the old apartment was cancelled, with the Trudeau Government choosing instead to purchase the condo on Billionaires’ Row, which came equipped with Italian marble, a $5,000 coffee machine and a golf simulator – which Clark only pays $1,800 in rent for.

This confirms previous evidence obtained through a committee investigation which showed that Clark was “instrumental” when it came to purchasing this property, providing the “greenlight for the selection of the new residence.”

As a result of this decision, Justin Trudeau effectively quadrupled the cost to taxpayers by buying a new luxury condo for $9 million instead of completing repairs which were already underway. It was only after Trudeau appointed Tom Clark, his old pal and media chum, that the residence which had been functioning properly for many years was suddenly uninhabitable.

Worse still, the decision to purchase this lavish condo only occurred after Justin Trudeau visited Tom Clark in New York City. Soon after, Global Affairs Canada (GAC) decided to purchase Clark the Billionaires’ Row apartment. They did this using new powers that Trudeau had given them which allowed GAC to purchase property up to $10 million with no oversight.

While Canadians cope with Trudeau’s housing hell, well-connected Liberals have never had things so good. Only Common Sense Conservatives will fire Tom Clark and end the abuse of taxpayer dollars.
