NDP-Liberals Launch Their Latest Attack on Canadian Energy Workers
Ottawa, ON — After nine years, the NDP-Liberal government has created economic misery for Canadians. Under Trudeau, Canada is going through the worst decline in our living standards in forty years, the worst drop in income per person in the G7 and the worst economic growth in the OECD.
Now, Trudeau’s radical Environment Minister has announced today that he plans to make this worse by attacking Canadian energy workers. They will do this by putting in place a so-called “emissions cap” that will kill Canadian jobs, raise the cost of energy and send billions of dollars to dictators overseas.
Justin Trudeau simply refuses to accept that Canada’s energy sector is the country’s single largest private sector investor in clean technologies. It has a clear record of reducing emissions and adhering to the highest standards of environmental protection.
Nearly a million Canadians have jobs as a result of the oil and gas sector, providing countless communities with powerful paycheques and life-changing opportunities. In 2022, the oil and gas industry provided $45 billion in revenue to Canadian governments, funding schools, hospitals, roads and other crucial public services. Instead of celebrating this and working with Canada’s energy workers to tackle climate change, Trudeau plans to crush the energy sector, putting hundreds of thousands of jobs at risk at the worst possible time.
Trudeau’s ideological crusade against Canadian energy must end. So far, Trudeau has failed to meet a single climate target, despite punishing Canadians with an inflationary carbon tax. Now, Trudeau wants to suffocate Canada’s energy industry with an arbitrary emissions cap that will devastate Canada’s already broken economy, forcing our allies to buy dirty dictator oil from criminals like Vladimir Putin and the terrorist regime in Tehran.
This NDP-Liberal Government is not worth the cost. Only Common Sense Conservatives will end Trudeau’s economic vandalism and bring home powerful paycheques for all Canadians.
