L’Essentiel : Nouvelle proposition conservatrice en habitation – 28 octobre 2024

Le chef du Parti conservateur, Pierre Poilievre, a dévoilé ce matin sa première promesse chiffrée en matière d’habitation : s’il était élu comme premier ministre, il abolirait la TPS sur les nouvelles maisons valant moins d’un million de dollars. Cette mesure coûterait 16 milliards $. Notre animatrice Catherine Lafrance en discute avec Pierre Paul-Hus, lieutenant politique du Québec pour le Parti conservateur.

Dans une lettre non signée et partagée lors du caucus de mercredi dernier, un groupe de 24 députés libéraux dissidents avaient donné comme date butoir lundi 28 octobre à Justin Trudeau pour qu’il se retire de son poste de chef. Quelle sera la suite des choses pour le premier ministre, alors qu’il a fait part de son intention de demeurer chef du parti? Nous abordons la situation avec le journaliste Paul Wells avec la publication en français de son essai « Dans les câbles », qui aborde les difficultés que rencontre présentement Justin Trudeau.

Le premier ministre de la Nouvelle-Écosse a pris tout le monde par surprise en déclenchant des élections avant la fin de son mandat. Pourquoi? Yvon Grenier, professeur à l’Université St-François Xavier, nous aide à y voir plus clair.
