MPs on Liberal caucus unrest, foreign interference – October 22, 2024

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons. Minister Anita Anand (transport and Treasury Board president) as well as Liberal MPs Mona Fortier, Ken Hardie, John McKay, Hedy Fry and Salma Zahid face questions on their support for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau amidst reports of Liberal caucus unrest. According to media reports, a group of Liberal MPs plan to formally ask the prime minister to step down as party leader at Wednesday’s federal caucus meeting.

NDP MPs Alistair MacGregor and Peter Julian comment on Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s continued refusal to obtain the necessary security clearance to be briefed on classified national security information pertaining to foreign interference in Canada’s domestic political affairs.
