A virtual news conference is held by lawyers representing a group of provinces and territories that are suing three major tobacco companies: JTI Macdonald, Imperial Tobacco, and Rothmans, Benson & Hedges. A court-appointed mediator is proposing that the companies pay close to $25 billion to provincial and territorial governments, as well as to tens of thousands of Quebec smokers, for health damages from cigarettes.

Speaking with reporters are Mike Eizenga, André I.G. Michael, Preet Gill, and Michael Peerless.
