Privilege motions, Conservative scrutiny of Carney’s role – October 3, 2024

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons. Conservative MPs Michael Barrett, Michelle Rempel Carner and Luc Berthold comment on Mark Carney’s role as special advisor to the Liberal party’s economic task force and call for the lobbying commissioner to review the appointment. Barrett also discuses ethics questions surrounding Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault.
Government House Leader Karina Gould speaks about the two Conservative privilege motions that are currently before the House of Commons. One concerns RCMP documents related to Sustainable Development Canada, and the other involves ethics questions surrounding Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault.
Liberal MP Wayne Long takes questions on the Bloc motion calling on the government to support Bill C-319, the private member’s bill to increase Old Age Security benefits.
Health Minister Mark Holland comments on the Senate’s study of the pharmacare bill.
