October 2, 2024 at 6:52 pm  Education, Kamloops, News

Join Joanne Brown, TRU’s Indigenous Elder and longtime employee, as she shares insights on TRU’s journey toward reconciliation. She’ll discuss how university-trained alumni are driving societal change and reflect on her personal experiences witnessing this transformation.

Joanne is a proud member of the Cheslatta Carrier Nation and has lived in Secwépemc’ulecw since 1996. With a background in geography and anthropology, she brings valuable experience from her previous role with Employment and Immigration Canada to her work in Indigenous post-secondary education. Joanne is passionate about fostering a sense of belonging and making each individual feel special. Outside of her professional commitments, she loves kayaking, gardening, cooking and cherishing time with her friends and family.
