NDP MP wants to make residential school denialism a criminal offence – September 27, 2024

As Canada is preparing to observe another National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the NDP MP for Winnipeg Centre, Leah Gazan, is asking parliamentarians to pass her private member’s bill regarding the “hatred against Indigenous peoples by condoning, denying, downplaying or justifying the Indian residential school system”, outside of private conversation.
