Submit Your Questions – Voters in Kamloops Ridings Invited to All-Candidates Forum on the Environment
Kamloops, BC – September 26, 2024—Voters are encouraged to submit questions on environmental issues for candidates Peter Milobar (Conservative), Kamal Grewal (NDP), and Randy Sunderman (Green), running in Kamloops Centre, and Ward Stamer (Conservative) and Maddi Genn (NDP), running in Kamloops-North Thompson, to answer at the upcoming All-Candidates Forum on Environment, October 2, 2024, at the Alumni Clock Tower Theatre at Thompson Rivers University.
Hosted by Transition Kamloops and the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, British Columbia (CPAWS-BC), the evening begins at 6 pm, featuring an informal reception with candidates before moving into the theatre for the forum. Candidates for Kamloops Centre will speak at 6:30 pm, while those from Kamloops-North Thompson take the stage at 8 pm after a short break.
Doug Herbert, veteran reporter and news anchor at CBC Radio Kamloops, will moderate each session.
Candidates will give prepared answers to a small number of questions provided to them in advance, including some from the CPAWS-BC Young Leaders in Conservation Program, before moving onto audience questions.
Questions from the audience will not be taken from the floor. Instead, the organizers ask attendees to submit in advance their questions related to climate change, energy, transportation, forestry practices, biodiversity conservation, parks, wildfires or any other environmental issue.
The All-Candidates Forum on the Environment is free, including the finger food and drinks served at the opening reception. Attendees are encouraged to reserve a seat via Eventbrite, as only a limited number of seats will be held for walk-ins. The registration form also includes a link to submit questions.
Please note that the forum is non-partisan. Transition Kamloops and CPAWS-BC welcome supporters of candidates from each riding but ask that attendees refrain from wearing politically-themed clothing.
