In the wake of escalating tensions in the Middle East, NDP foreign affairs critic Heather McPherson called on the Liberal government to recognize the State of Palestine. Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said Canada would do so “when the time is right.” But why?

We discuss the latest from Canada’s position on the matter with Bob Rae, Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations.
