Victoire bloquiste dans LaSalle-Émard-Verdun : analyse de Philippe J. Fournier – 17 septembre 2024

À l’issue d’une course à trois, le Bloc Québécois s’est emparé lundi de la forteresse libérale de LaSalle-Émard-Verdun, autrefois représentée par l’ex-ministre David Lametti. Avec ses 8884 votes, le bloquiste Louis-Philippe Sauvé a devancé au fil d’arrivée la libérale Laura Palestini par 248 votes. Le néo-démocrate Craig Sauvé est arrivé au troisième rang devant les conservateurs avec 8262 votes.

Le NPD a néanmoins conservé la seconde circonscription en jeu dans cette élection partielle, soit celle d’Elmwood-Transcona à Winnipeg. Les appuis conservateurs y ont toutefois augmenté. Pour le premier ministre Trudeau, cette défaite à Montréal s’ajoute à celle survenue dans un autre château fort, celui de Toronto–St. Paul’s.
