MPs comment on byelection results, safety of MPs – September 17, 2024

MPs speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as they convene for the daily question period in the House of Commons. They comment on Monday’s byelection results in the Winnipeg riding of Elmwood-Transcona and the Montreal-area riding of LaSalle-Émard-Verdun.

Speaking with reporters are Treasury Board president Anita Anand, Liberal MPs John McKay, Salma Zahid, Marc Serré, Sameer Zuberi, Shafqat Ali, Fayçal El-Khoury, Bloc Québécois MP Jean-Denis Garon, as well as NDP MPs Peter Julian, Alexandre Boulerice, Heather McPherson, Alistair MacGregor and Brian Masse.

NDP MPs Charlie Angus, Leah Gazan, Liberal MP Pam Damoff and Boulerice also comment on the threats faced by MPs following a confrontation that occurred between protesters and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh in the Parliamentary precinct on Tuesday.
