The days leading up to the start of Parliament in Ottawa were marked by NDP leader Jagmeet Singh’s shock announcement that the confidence and support agreement that kept the Liberals in power was coming to an end. Pierre Poilievre, seizing the moment, declared that he would table a motion of censure as quickly as possible to bring down the government and ultimately trigger an election.
