MLA Sandhu says expanded BC Transit services will support commuters in Vernon

VERNON– BC NDP MLA Harwinder Sandhu says people who use transit in Vernon will see improved service as a result of expanded BC Transit service.

“Many people rely on BC Transit everyday, so the increase in service on statutory holidays is going to help our community members get around,” says Harwinder Sandhu, MLA for Vernon-Monashee. “Students and commuters will benefit from the increased service on Route 90, which goes from Vernon to Kelowna.”

To promote increased ridership and support the continued growth of Vernon, BC Transit is providing expanded service with support from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. In Vernon, this expansion means consistent statutory holiday service on all local routes, as well as increased weekend service and statutory holiday service for Route 90.

This investment in the local transit system ensures that public transit services can continue to offer dependable transportation options for people in Vernon.

The expanded service in Vernon is part of improved transit service in communities across B.C. To support communities and the increased demand for public transit, the Province is committing $298 million for new BC Transit system expansion. BC Transit is expanding systems to shape the growth of communities that will benefit from new routes, more buses and improved service.
